Toll numbers come with a local area code and may not be free to the caller; standard long-distance charges could apply depending on the caller’s long-distance provider and plan. If a caller has a free or unlimited long-distance plan with their telephone service provider, the call would be made at no additional cost.

A toll-free call by definition is a call that does not cost the calling party anything; instead, the host is responsible for the cost of the call. When you provide your callers with a toll-free conference number, the calling party does not have to worry about being billed long-distance charges for the call because the organizer of the call is covering the cost for all attendees using the toll-free dial in number.
